Journey to the heart centre: A Yin Yang workshop

This two hour workshop takes place on the 1st December and will fuse together principles of Yin and Yang yoga.  In a Yin practice we maintain postures for longer periods of time, to move beyond the muscles and to work into the fascia and connective tissue of the body. Fascia runs throughout our body -  I always like to think of it as cling film that wraps around our ligaments and muscles. It can become quite tight, so through releasing it we can enable a greater range of movement.

In a Yang practice as we flow through and maintain the physical postures, with shorter holds we activate muscles and build strength.

Throughout the practice we will have a strong connection with breath and at times we will work through some breathing techniques, pranayama, to help harmonise body and mind.

The workshop will focus on postures that work towards opening the heart, a key muscle at the centre of the body. To do this we will work into the shoulders to release any tension and to enable an opening across the chest.

Here’s a snapshot of what to expect on the day:

  • 9:30am open our practice with a short meditation

  • 9:40am warm up

  • 9:50am begin our Yin practice

  • 10:30am move into our Yang practice

  • 11:00am move back into Yin practice

  • 11.15am pranayama and savasana

  • 11.30am close our practice

  • 11.30am brunch time

  • 12.15pm depart

The heart is the place where we love, we feel our emotions and it often guides our intuition. By connecting with the heart, releasing any blockages, we can aim to live a blissful, happy and healthy life.

The workshop will take place at the Packfords Hotel, Woodford. Tickets cost £40 per person which includes the yoga, a light brunch and a special gift.

There are only a few spots left,  so don’t miss out and book to secure your place now.
